Finally Back to Blogging

I haven't been on here in a while. Just been busy. The holiday were actually good for us. We took a different approach this year since it was our first holiday without mom. The Cowboy game was great. Joey got more attention than anyone there because he was decked out in Steeler gear. It was so funny! Dad came for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It was nice. We then left for Christmas at the cabin. All the family came and we really enjoyed it. The Read Family aka The Griswalds then packed up and went to McKinney for New Years. Joey and I took our first step in letting Ashton grow up by letting him go to Norman, OK to have New Year's with Austin and Curry and as far as I know things went fine. We had a great time in McKinney with my sisters. Other than the husbands "bonding" to much everything else went smoothly. The Griswalds then loaded up again and headed to Norman to watch Austin play and spend the weekend with him. It was a blast and the Sooners won so that was good. His roommate didn't know what hit him when the Read's got to town. We then packed up and headed back to Dalhart on Sunday. We got home late and then had to go to school the next day but it was worth it. I have added a couple of random pics of our trip.

The Game

For my husbands 40th birthday I got him tickets to this weeks Cowboy game. My husband despises the Cowboys, he is a Steeler fan, so obviously I was thinking more about myself when I got this present. Anyway, we are going with all my sisters and brother-in-laws and I cannot wait! I also can't wait for a trip with my husband all by ourselves, that's right, ourselves. All 8 kids are being "shipped off." A special early thanks to Sharon and Poppa for taking care of our babies! Now everyone please pray that my husband, the huge Steeler fan that will be decked out in Steeler gear, doesn't get into a fight, ha!! Pictures will be posted as soon as we get back! GO COWBOYS!

We Did It!!!

Well, we survived our first Thanksgiving with out the best cook in the world!!! It is kinda funny how things work out. We sat down at the table to have Thanksgiving dinner and teared up a bit, but we were so proud of ourselves that we couldn't cry. Instead we started clapping and cheering for ourselves!!! I have included a pic for all to see!!!

This One's For Koby

This past Friday was Senior night for the Dalhart Wolves and Joey and I had the honor of escorting Koby and being his "parents" that night. Koby is Joey's nephew that moved in with us two years ago this December. When Koby moved here he had been kicked out of school, was failing all of his classes, didn't play football, and life was a struggle. In the past two years he has become an A/B student, become a Christian, and is one heck of a football player!!! Koby has joined the Marines and will be leaving this summer! I am so proud of this kid and can't wait to see what his future holds. Koby, this page is dedicated to you!!!

Football

The one word that describes my life right now is Football. I go to at least 3 games a week, sometimes 4 and then my Sunday's are devoted to fantasy football. For those of you that know me, you know that there is no where I'd rather be than watching a good football game and this year i am getting plenty of that.

I have always loved high school football, probably because I was raised in such a wonderful football town, and believe you me, compared to the other's I have been at Childress is a football town, but now I must say my favorite games are "The DAWGS". Curry plays football for SWOSU (Southwestern Oklahoma State University) and it is so much fun to go and watch him. We all load up in the family "Griswald" vehicle and head to Weatherford, OK. As with any trip from Dalhart America, Weatherford is a long way, especially with a newborn, a two year old, and very big boys! We have so much fun though. Joey and I actually enjoy the long trips because it is the only time we have during football season to sit and talk. We usually get home around 4am.

Curry gets to play quite a bit and it is so fun to watch him. I have never known my husband to show much emotion on the football field, but when we are at Curry's ballgames he is estatic and it shows. He is so proud and so are all the rest of us. I swear to you Curry has the loudest cheering section of anyone there, even when his name gets called our for being offsides! A lady told me the other night the she loves to just sit and watch our family!!!

Curry is also very emotional when we are there. He is so proud of his family. He makes sure that we are all coming, he tells everyone that his dad will be there and then he makes sure that we are all on the field to greet him after the games. He also loves the fact that he has so many brothers and sisters!! He is also big on making sure that we get lots of family pictures at his games. He is so sweet!!

The Dalhart Wolves are struggling a little right now due to injury, but Koby and Ashton also make us very proud. Koby has turned out to be a great suprise in football this year and is pretty good. This is only his second year to play football and he has become a leader.

Ashton's team is undefeated and he let's everyone know about it. He is usually the center but lately his dad has moved him to guard and he adapts well. In case you didn't know Joey coaches Koby and Ashton's position which can sometimes be rough.

Dallam we don't get to see much cause he plays for the stinking Canyon Eagles, but we get to see videos every week and let me tell you, Dal could be the best one yet!!!

As for my fantasy....we won't talk about that.
